Compression Test of Concrete ( From UTAR's Laboratory Practical) --- Part 2

From the compression experiment, every concrete we have taken down the record and result. Then we list it out and compare which one will be more hard and stiffness. Because we used different volume of material like sand, grave and cement to make many range of concrete. The total we have tried 6 different range of concrete like some is concrete is less of sand, some less of grave, some less of water, and some less of cement. From the diagram below we found the best result was the 1:1.5:3 / 0.6 concrete.

The six different range was
1:1.5:3 / 0.8 (275.5 kN)
1:1.5:3 / 0.6  the best result (364.4 kN)
1:2:4 / 0.8 (223.5 kN)
1:2:4 / 0.6 (229.5 kN)
1:3:6 / 0.8 (92.5 kN)
1:3:6 / 0.6 (110.6 kN)

Compression Test of Concrete ( From UTAR's Laboratory Practical)

The 1st picture is the process of compressing the concrete. This is use to take note that which concrete will have a better strength and which one concrete will be more suitable to build structure or buildings. The machine will compress the concrete until it totally break then record it strength and stiffness of the concrete.

The second picture was one of the result that taken by the machine. From the picture, we can found the concrete can handle how much pressure and how many percentage it will fail. Furthermore, it also recorded the size of concrete like it depth, width, and height. It also show that the area and stress of the concrete.

The process of compression the concrete is very important to every construction cause they must test the concrete and use the suitable concrete or solution to the construction. Therefore, we also made this experiment and experience the process, it will so much helpful for some people who is constructing.

How to Make Concrete?

This is a video to show that how to mix the concrete by hand as easy as well. Enjoy this video.

Short Introduction to CONCRETES, STONES, BRICKS, CONCRETE BLOCKS

Concrete
Concrete is kind of a material used in building construction, making up of a hard, chemically inert particulate substance, known as an aggregate (made from different types of gravel and sand), that is bonded together by water and cement.

Stones
Stones are generally classified by mineral and chemical composition, by the texture of the constituent particles and by the processes that formed them.

Brick
Brick, refers to small units of building material, usually made from fired clay and secured with mortar, a bonding agent comprising of water, cement and sand.

Concrete Block
Concrete block, as know as concrete masonry unit, is a large rectangular brick used in building construction. It is made from cast concrete. Sand and fine gravel are usually the component for high density block.
